Safety Rules

Hunting in a safe manner ensures that you will end your day on a positive note.

When a person handles firearms, there are certain associated risks and dangers such as:

  • You shoot a dog
  • You shoot someone else
  • You shoot yourself
  • Someone else shoots you
  • Errant and or misfired shots

There are rules that can help reduce the risks and dangers such as:

  • Control your muzzle, this is the number one rule when handling a firearm
  • Point your muzzle straight in the air or away from other people or dogs
  • Be sure of your target and what is beyond
  • Avoid carrying your shotgun pointed at the ground
  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Do not rely on your safety mechanism.
A safety mechanism is mechanical and therefore can fail.

With upland hunting comes fast shooting and far too many guns have went off before the person was ready. Luckily, those errant shots have gone up in the air and not hit a person or dog.

Hunting and shooting sports are a great way to spend time with friends and family in the outdoors.
