Fall 2013

We have entered our 14th season as one of the premier hunting clubs in Oregon. We have secured some additional hunting ranches in the area which will provide our members and their guests even more opportunities for hunting and recreating.  Our main ranch, located out on Smock Prairie is busting with newly planted and old-growth, upland bird habitat which provides a unique mix of fields and transition zones for hunters to chase Pheasants, Chukars, Hungarian Partridge, Valley and Bobwhite Quail.  We have added a young, new female German Shorthair named Rosie to the kennel this summer and she is will prove by mid season to be an excellent dog.

This past summer, we were able to make some significant upgrades to the facilities that both enhance the look and functionality of your experience.  At the 5-stand, we now have 10 machines launching clays in a myriad of angles and speeds and all machines are now operated on a remote, wireless system.  The hand-held controller allows the members to count the clays thrown each time and provides simplicity for those wanting to shoot on their own.  We have expanded and dressed up the Canyon House kitchen area which  created more space for storage and cooking large meals.  The parking lot at Badger Cabin has been expanded as well, making it more convenient for larger vehicles.

The Doves flocked to the fields once again on the season opener, September 1st.  Some of us were lucky enough to be in the right spots and quickly reached the 10-bird limit, although you can bet that far many more shells were spent trying to keep up with this fast-flying bird.  Others had to move around to a couple of different ranches and walk them up in the hot sun, but eventually their persistence paid off with full bags.  Dove season runs through the end of September.

Deer season is coming up in late September through the 9th of October and we are seeing some really nice bucks showing off their headgear.  More importantly, there is a significant increase in the amount of deer in general this year so this bodes well for those members seeking to fill their freezers.

We look forward to your arrival this season and hope that you will get some prime dates on the books soon!!
